Abstract:

This paper proposes N-1 Security-Constrained Short-term Hydrothermal Scheduling (SCSHTS), with a Power Transfer Distribution Factor (PTDF). The computational efficiency of the proposed formulation is shown by solving SCSHTS of the benchmark system. A new metaheuristic approach based on Self Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (SAGA), with the new self-adaptive penalty, repair mechanism, and crossover/mutation strategy, with implementation for IEEE 30 Bus System is proposed. The results show that the proposed algorithm successfully tackles SCSHTS, and total costs are highly dependent on unit outages.
