Analytical approach to evaluating the performance of the OpenFlow protocol on Software Defined Networks

Abstract:
This work proposes an analytical approach to evaluating OpenFlow performance applied on Software Defined Networks (SDNs). The method can quickly estimate packet waiting time in a controller domain, addressing real-world SDN challenges. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated quantitatively, making it a valuable tool for SDN system designers to improve a network's quality of service. The approach assumes uniform traffic conditions and a variety of offered loads, highlighting the importance of testing under various conditions.
